Space Needle under attack!
This started as a "oh, I might as well" effort. Then I brought the results home and started looking. Some interesting surprises there. It's interesting to see fireworks differently than one expects. There's that whole Seeing thing again.
One of the things that struck me about many of the photos was how strongly they resemble astronomy photographs. Lots of exploding suns and nebulae.
This is my favorite.
The process must have looked suspicious. Basically I held down the shutter button and moved the camera around flowers for a while. Can't look through the viewfinder because it's just too dark to see anything through that tiny hole.
The pinhole does reveal every speck of dust on my sensor, though. That was an eye opener.
This was fun. There's been a resurgence of pinhole photography with digital cameras. Using the plastic body cap that came with my camera, I drilled a small hole, covered it with foil and made a tinier hole with a needle. The rest is experimentation and guess work.

The Great Buddha Hall in the Todai-ji temple, located in the Nara Prefecture of Japan. The Hall is purported to be the largest wooden building in the world. In addition to this imposing figure, there are the 50 foot tall Great Buddha (Daibutsu) and another imposing Guardian King, Tamonten. I was pleased to capture the energy of the gathered visitors in this photograph.
He sure is fierce. The Guardian, not the tourist.
It's surprisingly difficult, in this internet age to find any information about these statues in Japan and Hong Kong. That's kind of refreshing, actually. A little mystery is left.
This one... I was just curious enough about this image to print it full sized and see it in a frame. It's interesting to present something I am, myself, unsure of.
Yesterday I walked around the lake and saw more of this and knew, if I'd had my camera with me, that I'd have taken dozens more. This is quite definitely not random shooting in that direction over there. I look for branches and arrangements of elements that are composed in the frame, then see what is happening in the fluid, endless change within that chosen frame. It helped that a duck was swimming nearby. Two frames later he actually appeared in the picture. Nice to have a little help.
